In my research class, our semester project was to study, analyze and evaluate the current perception of our school, the School of Media and Strategic Communications, through focus groups, surveys and personal interviews. From our findings, we put together a plan of action for the school, which we presented to our classmates, faculty and the director of the SMSC.
As a part of the OSU Advertising Club, I went to the National AAF Student Conference. I was placed into a group of students from other schools, and the client, Academy Sports and Outdoors, presented the challenge. Double X Advertising Agency (our group- consisting of only women- hence the name) was sent off to Lopez Negrette, a hispanic ad agency, to rebrand Academy and create a plans book. Did I mention we had eight hours to do all of this, and if we were a minute late, we would be disqualified? I was challenged to work in a fast-paced environment with strangers, and we had to cooperate and work as a unit. Each of us couldn’t be afraid to give our input or reason against someone else’s idea.
